1. Poison Ivy
Originally, Poison Ivy is a biologist and botanist. People tend to see her as an eco-terrorist as she uses toxins from plants, botany and even her blood for her crimes. However, Poison Ivy is always considered as one of the most favourite DC superhero girl villains for her complexity and beauty. She is obsessed with plants, which explains why most of her criminal activities were aimed to protect the natural environment.
Poison Ivy has a close relationship with her fellow villain Harley Quinn because they have gone through various deadly adventures together. She also experiences a love-hate relationship with our superhero Batman. Of all female DC characters, Poison Ivy is outstanding due to the contradiction in her actions/purposes and her special connection to other DC fan-favorite characters.
2. Killer Frost
Killer Frost is a unique DC villainess among other superhero girl villains on this list. Actually, Killer Frost is the name used by three different female superheroes and villains. These women are Crystal Frost, Louise Lincoln, and Caitlin Snow. All versions have a very special relationship with superhero Firestorm.
Crystal Frost – the first Killer Frost, is a true DC female supervillain. She used to be a normal student at Hudson University. However, after an unexpected accident, she was given the ability to absorb heat from living things and turn into ice and cold energy. She was responsible for the ruthless crusade against men, only stopped and killed after absorbing too much energy from the Firestorm. Crystal Frost is one of the few superhero girl villains entombed below the Hall of Justice.
Enchantress is a persuasive answer to the question “Who is the strongest female DC character?”. She is a dangerous sorceress who is capable of controlling magical energy for multiple purposes, from self-healing to teleporting or even telekinesis. She is best known for her role as the main superhero girl villain in the 2016 Suicide Squad. However, it can be seen that in the movie, her power is far less powerful than her actual abilities. Enchantress is the most powerful when she is in her host – an innocent woman named June Moone. She has a complex connection with The Suicide Squad members. She used to be both their enemy and their teammate. Enchantress once defeated Wonder Woman, Superman and Cyborg in the past. Therefore, it is understandable why Enchantress is regarded as one of the most powerful female villains in the DC universe.
Blackfire, or princess Komand’r, is one of the most remarkable black female villains in the DC universe. People know her as the main female villain superhero in the Teen Titans series. She is also the older sister of Starfire – a member of the Teen Titan. Like her younger sister, Blackfire’s danger is mostly from her “blackbolts” which are formed by ultraviolet radiation.
As a Tamaranean, she has superhuman strength, durability and immunity. In terms of combat skills and tactical analysis, Blackfire is more excellent than Starfire. However, due to her serious illness when she was young, Blackfire was not capable of flying like other Tamaranean people. Although she is among DC comics women villains, many fans still sympathize with her actions because of her tragic childhood.
Unlike other characters on the list of DC female villains, Catwoman does not own any superpowers. Instead, she is dangerous because of her excellent brain. Being a jewel thief, she is definitely one of the smartest superhero girl villains in the DC comics. She is capable of mentally manipulating other intelligent DC superheroes and villains. Genius billionaire Bruce Wayne is one of her victims.
Physically, Catwoman is considered as an outstanding fighter. With her martial arts and gymnastics skills, she can easily take down her enemy before they know she does. Her favorite weapons are sharp claws and a bullwhip. She has experienced a complex romantic relationship with her enemy Batman, which is a crucial factor making her one of the most interesting DC universe female characters.
6. Silver Banshee
Silver Banshee is one of the deadliest DC superhero girl villains and a dangerous opponent of Superman. Her real name is Siobhan McDougall – a girl from an Irish family cursed to be banshees. The Banshee Curse turned her into a ghostly being with sound manipulation ability. She can reduce her enemy’s power or even kill them with her supersonic blast from her mouth.
Her abilities also include superhuman strength and speed, enough to equally compete with Superman. In addition, Silver Banshee is considered one of the most powerful female villains for her “Death Stare”. She is believed to kill anyone in front of her as long as she knows their names. Although her main opponent is one of the strongest superheroes in the DC comics, she has successfully posed various great challenges for our Men of Steel.
7. Talia Al Ghul
Talia Al Ghul is another of Batman’s lover on this list. Like Catwoman, she is one of the best DC comics female characters for her intelligence. Her romantic relationship with Batman makes her his worst enemy. She is capable of easily controlling Bruce Wayne by manipulating his feelings for her.
She is the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul – a great and influential supervillain. Therefore, she inherited his intellectual skills and vast network of important figures. They are assassins, financiers or weapon experts…etc. In terms of combat skills, she is excellent in all forms of hand-to-hand combat, better than her father and even Batman. It is undeniable that Talia Al Ghul is one of the most well-trained superhero girl villains in the DC universe.
Livewire, or Leslie Willis, used to be a normal woman who worked as a DJ and radio shock jock. She loved making fun of Superman on the airwaves. Therefore, Lex Luthor enjoys listening to her talks. During a thunderstorm, she accidentally touched a wire on the stage while performing for a crowd. This incident had electrified her body, turning her into Livewire – a DC superhero girl villain.
She is electricity in general. Her ability allows her to move her body freely through electric current. She is also able to manipulate and make powerful electric blasts to attack her enemies. Like electricity, her main weakness is water. Just a small amount of water will affect her power and energy badly. Livewire sees Superman as her main opponent, making her one of the superhero girl villains fighting against Superman.
Cheshire, or Jade Nguyen, is a half French and half Vietnamese female villain superhero. She had to experience a tragic childhood as she used to be sold into slavery. As the time went by, she was gradually trained to be a deadly assassin and skilled mercenary. Black Canary once said that Chesire is “the second most deadly assassin in the world”, only after Lady Shiva. She is also a master in poisons using and martial arts.
Her main rivalry is a group of superheroes named the Teen Titans. However, she was romantically involved with a member, Roy Harper and had a child. After that, she has faced off many other enemies along the way and still successfully maintained her life. This makes her one of the most badass DC female villains.
We will end this list with a special superhero girl villain. Her name is Cheetah – Wonder Woman’s most famous DC comics woman villain. In fact, the name Cheetah has been used by two other women and one man in the past. However, the most popular Cheetah is Dr. Barbara Minerva – a British archaeologist who was possessed by the plant god Urzkartaga.
Cheetah has been seen as the main opponent of Wonder Woman since 2016’s “Rebirth”. Cheetah is obsessed with Wonder Woman’s Golden Lasso and has tried many times to steal it.
Barbara Minerva can only turn into The Cheetah by drinking another’s blood. And as The Cheetah, she has superhuman strength, speed, durability, senses, and agility. If nothing changes, we will have a chance to see Cheetah on a big screen for the first time in Wonder Woman 1984.
